02 September 2013 | Japan, Matsumoto

On day 6 we travelled by bus to Matsumoto. The trip took us about 3 hours in total including a 10minute stop. During this stop we had ourself something to eat as it was around lunch time. The bus driver liked to have a steady pass and was continuously overtaking other cars. Even when it suddenly started raining and you could only see about 20 meters ahead. He didn't think this was a problem at all and just continued overtaking cars.

Whereas in Tokyo I would have gladly done a rain dance, over here there has been an overkill of rain. It has been raining non-stop for the two days that we have been here and I'm ready to change back to the sun now.

Anywhom, back to the bus ride. Once the bus ride was over and we got out we were immediately greeted by Keiko. Keiko is the contact person that made sure we got our apartments. After taking our bags to the car where Keiko's husband was waiting they took us the apartments to drop off our bags. Keiko's husband did something no other Japanese person would do, he immediately touched my beard and jokingly said something along the lines of: What is this? A normal Japanese person wouldn't dare dream of touching another person, let alone a foreigner :P So this was very surprising to say the least. After dropping off the bags we went on to their house for a cup of ice coffee. When walking back we met Yukiko Kouno. This is the coordinator for the exchange students at Shinshu University. She gave us some milk and juice(don't know why) and asked us if we wanted to visit the 100 Yen shop in the evening.

At about 7 o'clock we went to the 100 Yen shop with Kouno. We bought some back things and decided to come back the other day. After doing all this we had our first meal in Matsumoto at the Mos Burger, which sell really tasty burgers. After this day 6 ended.

On day 7 we decided to buy the necessary home improvements for our rooms and to properly clean them. The bed linen we bought aren't spectacular and was it hard/expensive to find cotton products, but I did buy 2 cotton pillow casings, a futon sheet (non cotton) and blanket cover(non cotton). I also acquired some curtains which are actually made out of plastic, not a textile fabric(which I thought was kinda odd). The story doesn't end here because of course I bought something in the wrong size. In the evening we returned to the mall so I could bring back the blanket cover and get a bigger one. After which we again had a Mos burger (it was close and we were lazy).

This concludes the day for now! I will add a link to a small video of my apartment later on. It is still uploading at a very slow speed at the moment.
