Inari gates and bamboo forest

Today we went to the inari gates and the bamboo forest in Kyoto. Our first destination were the inara gates.
These gates are all located on a mountain near Kyoto. We got there via a short train ride, however, it was extreme busy. On this mountain, together with all the inari gates, are a lot of small temples. It is a Japanese tradition to visit a temple after near year. The Japanese usually do this during the first 3 days of the new year. The day we went was the 2nd of January, so very very busy. None the less, we went ahead with the climb of the mountain and its gates.
There are two routes you can take, the long route and the short route. In order to see all the (allegedly) 1000+ gates, one must take the long route. So we took the long route. This route took us about an hour to an hour and a half. It went by so fast that I didn't even notice that we went past the top and were already heading back to the beginning point. Only after asking one of my friends I got told we already passed the top a while back. In order to get to the top you basically climb a mountain via a lot of stairs.
The inari gates themselves look the same like the normal big shinto gates you find at a Buddhist temple. Only these are all lined behind each other and placed on this mountain. Companies or people can sponsor one of these gates and write their name on the gate itself.

After this long walk, we decided to walk some more! We continued to the bamboo forest in Kyoto. However, it was already getting dark and we didn't really have a lot of energy left. So we did a short route in the bamboo forest and eventually ended up near the river and apparently a famous bridge. I, however, failed to comprehend why this bridge was so special.
We finally took the train home and went for dinner. That is all for this time.
Regards,
